How to set up the EPG guide in Tevium
The electronic programme guide is what makes IPTV feel like real TV. Here is how to get the EPG working in Tevium and fix an empty guide.
The EPG (electronic programme guide) is what turns a list of channels into a real TV experience. Here is how to get it working in Tevium, and what to do when the guide is empty.
How Tevium loads the EPG
Tevium pulls the EPG from two places:
- The EPG reference inside your M3U playlist, or
- The EPG URL your provider gives you, usually ending in
.xmlor.xml.gz
For Xtream Codes logins, the EPG is usually handled automatically as part of the provider's API.
Step 1: Check your playlist has an EPG source
Open Settings, select your playlist, and check the EPG URL field. If it is empty, paste the EPG URL your provider supplied.
Step 2: Refresh the guide
Tevium downloads and stores the guide locally, then updates it in the background. If you just added an EPG URL, trigger a refresh from the guide or settings so it downloads immediately.
Step 3: Browse the two-dimensional guide
Open the Live TV guide. Channels run down one side, time across the top, and programmes fill the grid. Select a programme to see its details, or select the channel to watch.
Fixing common EPG problems
The guide is completely empty.
The EPG URL is missing or does not match your playlist. Add the correct URL and refresh.
Some channels have no guide data.
This is usually a mismatch between the channel's identifier and the EPG source. Tevium's advanced EPG matching, available in the paid tiers, resolves most mismatches automatically.
The guide is slow to load.
A large XMLTV file takes a moment to import the first time. Tevium caches it after that, so later loads are fast.
Why the EPG matters
A good guide is the difference between "a list of channels" and something that feels like proper television. Tevium treats the EPG as a first-class feature rather than an afterthought.
